The International Photography Awards is a sister-effort of the Lucie Foundation, where the top three winners are announced at the annual Lucie Awards ceremony. The awards event will be held at the Lincoln Center in New York on October 24, 2011, before returning to Los Angeles in 2012 in celebration of the 10-year anniversary. Over 8,000 submissions from 90 countries were received for the 2011 International Photography Awards with over 70 jurors, the largest to date. The Foundation’s mission is to honor master photographers, discover new and emerging talent, and promote the appreciation of photography. A heartwarming and humbling experience capturing photographs of some of the men and women riding in this year’s Ride to Conquer Cancer which supports cancer research at the BC Cancer Agency. Working for the Ride’s sponsor Enbridge with the agency WAX Partnership Inc from Calgary, we shot on location here in Vancouver during what turned out to be the only two days of sun we’ve had this spring (phew).

Out with an indie splash, Magpie Darling is a new British based fashion magazine who have just released their premier issue. My recent shoot with stylist Leila Bani and makeup/hair artist Brenda Bekker appears in a spread inside, as well as on the cover and the website. A hilarious morning with a gang of ad industry/comedian guys (one in the same really – ha ha). Partner and Creative Director Andrew Samuel from Saint Bernadine Mission Communications Inc. brought the gang together for this one…and thank you once again to Sonia Leal Serafim from THEY Rep for amazing grooming (and styling).
