RUNNER’S YOGA

Mike Dennison's Runners Yoga

Hot off the press.

I photographed Mike Dennison a while back for his new “Runner’s Yoga” DVD which has now just been released. Mike has been teaching yoga and running for years now and quickly saw the benefits of combining the two into a complete training program. Now you can too!

A BIG SERVING OF PHOTOGRAPHY…

Photography Served

I received an email from Oscar at Behance this morning to let me know that two of my portfolios have been featured on Photography Served, one of Behance’s “Served” sites that they developed to further showcase the best projects in the Behance Network, within specific industries.

“Our editorial team features a small number of projects every day. With many thousands of options, we only pick a few that promote new thinking in the industry.”

Thanks to Oscar and the Behance Team.

FEATURED IN PHOTO DISTRICT NEWS ONLINE

without comments

A feature article from Photo District News online, Photoserve, was published today about the installation in BC Place Stadium. I was interviewed about the project in relation to the renovations for the 2010 Winter Olympics and beyond. The resulting write-up, sent out by email newsletter to 15,000 Creatives, is an in-depth story on the shoot itself, the production behind it and working with DDB Canada/Karacters here in Vancouver.

I always check out these newsletters for industry info, updates and interesting articles from one of the original online sources for the photography industry. If you’re interested you can sign up for future newsletters of the Photoserve News here.

Here’s how the article looks:

FEATURED IN PHOTOSERVE’S LIGHTBOX

without comments

PDN

My work is featured in the Photo District News’ Photoserve lightbox sent out this week to almost 15,000 Creatives. Quoting PDN sales rep Jeanne Brei, “Our editors featured images from photographers who “capture action and adventure with a nod to the upcoming Winter Olympics” this month.” It’s nice to be included in this dynamic group…much appreciated.

MAYOR GREGOR ROBERTSON FOR MEN’S JOURNAL MAGAZINE

without comments

Blog-shotGregorRobertson_081-5x7

Men’s Journal requested a portrait of Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson to illustrate an article about the city and the 2010 Winter Olympics. I had photographed Mayor Robertson previously, during his election campaign, where he arrived to the shoot by himself, in a sharp suit and commuting on his bicycle…he had my vote right then.

UCI WORLD CHAMPION CYCLIST STEPHANIE ROORDA

with one comment

Had an exciting time shooting Steph Roorda recently. Steph and her team (Laura Brown and Tara Whitten) are just back from the UCI World Cup races in Colombia where they won the gold medal for Canada in the track team pursuit category. According to the Canadian Cycling Association “The team rode close to perfect technique and had the fastest qualifying time and a new Canadian record of 3:27.659″. This is a brand new category which has just been added to the Olympics so the team will be preparing for that for the next while.
We were out at the Velodrome in Burnaby…an older track but with one of the steepest inclines around…you’ve got to keep a minimum speed of 30km or you’ll slide off the track!

ROCK CLIMBING ANYONE?

without comments

_79H8595

Recently photographed local rock climber Joel Lafortune out at Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver. One of my favorite locations in the area with a dramatic rock face straight down to the ocean…and happily just enough space to balance a light stand. Assistant Marc not only got to help out moving gear but, as the photograph above shows, was literally at the end of his rope helping Joel to stay safe under less than perfect conditions.

Galerie BMG is pleased to host the exhibition of “Hibernus…a winter study by Canadian photographer, David Ellingsen
12 Tannery Brook Rd, Woodstock, New York, 12498
845/679-0027
December 4th to January 11

The second solo exhibition this year for my series “Hibernus” begins today at Galerie BMG in Woodstock, NY. I am sad to say I cannot make it in person as I just arrived back from China yesterday, but the owners Bernard and Judi Gerson will of course be there for this evening’s reception to welcome guests on my behalf.

Here’s some early local press from Chronogram Magazine.

Additionally, there is an exhibition notice in the beautiful Photograph Magazine.
From my dealings with them, I must comment on the attention to detail of their production crew. Not often now that you have to send an actual print, which they scan and colour match.
First class all the way.
